What else we provide?

CNC Machining

We have 4 machining centres, the biggest capable of 1610mm x 700mm and all are linked directly to our CAM software allowing us to machine directly from 3d models. We also have 2 CNC bed mills and a CNC lathe capable of up to Ø500mm.

Tool Proving

Our in house proving of tooling is an important feature of the CMA manufacturing process. Customers can be confident that when they receive their tooling that it has been tried, tested and debugged ready for your production requirements.

Jig Boring

Our Jig boring is done on a SIP 8A with a generous capacity of 1.5m x 1m in Bed Size and 1m travel in the Z axis. It also comes equipped with twin spindles allowing us to quickly produce holes, bores and pockets in multiple face from a single set-up. The machine also comes with a range of rotary tables and other precision equipment making it a very versatile machine.

Surface Grinding

We use multiple surface grinders and our largest has a working size of 1500mm x 550mm and 600mm in height.

Our team

About us

CMA Tools Ltd was founded in 1968 by the current directors John M. Aspden and Brian Crossley, both time served toolmakers, and started out as a small cutter grinding firm. In 1980 CMA Tools expanded in to its current larger premises providing the ability to expand our product range moving more in to tool making. During the 1970’s and 1980’s white goods were CMA’s main area of expertise before becoming heavily involved in the automotive industry working for many big name brands. The aerospace industry became and still is one of our biggest areas with well over 30 years experience. CMA Tools have gained knowledge in many areas over the years and have very good customer and supplier relationships. CMA Tools have a strong belief in passing forward this knowledge which why we invest heavily in our staff and are proud of our apprentice training scheme and insist on doing our own training, ensuring that young engineers remain within the region.
